About the Course

The G.N.M. course trains students in patient care, midwifery, community health, emergency care and basic medical sciences. It is open to 10+2 pass candidates as per council norms.

Career scope: Work as a staff nurse, community health nurse, midwife or healthcare professional in hospitals, NGOs and international health agencies.

Eligibility Criteria

1Minimum age for admission17 years completed as on 31st December of that year. The upper age limit is 35. For ANM / LHV candidates there is no age bar.
2Minimum education
  1. 10+2 with English, with a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and in English individually, from any recognised board. Candidates from a state open school recognised by the state government and from NIOS recognised by the central government are also eligible; science is preferable.
  2. 10+2 with English having 40% marks in a vocational ANM course from a school recognised by the Indian Nursing Council.
  3. 10+2 with English having 40% marks in the vocational stream — Health Care Science — from a recognised CBSE / state / central board.
  4. Registered ANM with pass marks from a state nursing registration council.
3Medical fitnessStudents shall be medically fit.
4Male candidatesMale candidates’ enrolment should not exceed 30% of total enrolment.
5Admission procedureIn addition to the above, the admission procedure laid down by MNC and INC applies.
